Michelangelo and Leonardo had similar aspects to their paintings, however, they did not follow exactly the same style, due to different attempts at approaching their work. Leonardo would approach his paintings in a fashion that would express the bones of the subject first and then worked around that. This gave his artwork a very realistic quality to it and showed his extensive knowledge of anatomy. However, Michelangelo's works had a way of expressing his internal struggles and often showed in his painting suffering, for that is what he believed art to be. Michelangelo was also capable of finishing his paintings due to his concentration, whereas Leonardo was unable to due his curiosity, which would often lead him away from what he was doing, leaving unfinished works.
